Overview
Lectio is an AI reading companion for macOS users, designed for the moments when a document, course, paper, product guide, or error message almost makes sense but still needs one more explanation.
Core experience: Ask Lectio out loud without leaving the material you are reading. It first uses selected text when available, otherwise reads the current screen, then answers in the context of what is in front of you.
Core Features
- Selected Text First: Select a paragraph, function, or error message, then ask about that exact context.
- Current Screen Understanding: When no text is selected, Lectio reads visible screen content, making it useful for browsers, PDFs, course players, and error screens.
- Voice Question Flow: Ask by voice and listen to spoken responses, keeping the learning loop closer to natural thought.
- Floating Conversation Panel: Answers stay near the current task, so learners can keep asking follow-up questions around the same material.
- Bring-Your-Own-Key Setup: Users provide their own AI service key and keep control over provider choice, account access, and usage cost.
- Local-First Trust Boundary: Screen reading, speech input, and spoken output are handled with macOS capabilities where possible, avoiding unnecessary full-screen screenshot uploads.
